We run adult art classes for total beginners to advanced students, and offer workshops throughout the year on different topics.

Drawing Basics

Explore your creative potential in this 7 week course, through learning basic drawing skills including how to observe and draw shape, volume, perspective and tone. Studying different subjects each week including still-life, urban and natural landscape and a live model, students will be introduced to an extensive range of drawing techniques and mediums. Mediums will include charcoal, ink, chalk pastel and watercolour. Each class will focus on quick warm up drawings and a more sustained drawing.
Suitable for absolute beginners to intermediate students.

This 9 week course is ideal for both beginners and experienced students wishing to extend their ‘seeing’ skills by accessing different areas of the brain while drawing. Based loosely on the Betty Edwards classic Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, the course has at its core the fundamental understanding that observational drawing is a set of skills not unlike cooking or driving and can be learnt as such. Once learnt and practiced the artist has the tools to express his/her self with ease.
Learn to Draw features many of the exercises from Edwards’ book and covers all the basic themes within observational drawing: still life, portraiture, landscape, reproduction work and the study of the nude figure. The aim is to demystify drawing, dispelling the myth about the need for talent, luck or inspiration.
