Drawing in Colour
Add life to your drawings with coloured pastels or pencils. Pastels are a wonderfully versatile media, which allow you to work fast and utilise colour. We will work from a life model for part of the day and learn the techniques of pastel painting using still life compositions. Charcoal enthusiasts will enjoy experimenting with colour, even the slightest hint of colour can dramatically change the feel and look of your work.
Model fees are included in this workshop.
Illustration
Tony Bel has been a professional illustrator for 20 years and will show you the techniques and tools to hone your skills in illustration. Whether it be for fashion, interior or industrial design, you will learn how to improve your drawing and apply techniques specific to the field of illustration. Suitable for all levels of ability especially design students.
Mixed Media Tools & Techniques
A Mixed Media approach gives you great versatility in creating images and conveying your own expressive ideas. This one day workshop is perfect for those in need of some inspiration in there art making. You will learn new techniques with wet and dry media. With a focus on experimentation, this class will provide a wealth of ideas.
There is also a 9 week course on this subject if you would like to delve deeper into the technique.
Acrylic Painting Basics
Acrylics are a wonderfully versatile medium in which to learn to paint. They are fast drying and allow you to easily create layered works incorporating full bodied impasto textures and wash effects. Also, being water based, Acrylics are an ideal medium for those sensitive to the solvents used with oil painting.
This one day workshop will show you the basics on how to start painting with acrylics. There will be demonstrations on the use of different mediums and tools and techniques.

Watercolour Basics
Watercolour is a challenging and exacting art form, but it can be lots of fun too. Without getting too serious you will learn how to better control this medium and learn the basics in using a variety of materials, painting tools and applications.
At the end of the day you would of experienced a whole new style of painting and next term can continue on with our 9 week course for more in depth studies.
Portraiture Technique
Portraiture drawing involves the use of specific techniques to achieve a good likeness of your subject. In this crash course Samantha will guide you through specific observation exercises, gestural drawing and will touch on anatomy to give you the tools to understand portrait drawing.
This course will use life models, fees included in course cost.
There is also a 8 week course on this subject if you would like to delve deeper into the technique.
Dynamic Figure Drawing
This unique workshop uses two life models, embracing and interacting to add a whole new dynamic to your drawings. This class will be instructed and will include both short and long poses with time to complete a masterpiece! Some prior experience with life drawing is recommended to achieve satisfying results.
So if you’re ready to challenge yourself, don’t miss this rare opportunity to work from multiple models. Alternatively we have an Instructed Life Draw class which runs for 8 weeks on Friday nights.

Oil Painting Basics
Learn to paint with oils and discover the versatility and attraction of painting with a more traditional medium. This workshop is run over two days due to the slow drying nature of oils. Tania will cover all the basics you need to know to get started painting with oils and will demonstrate tools and techniques to achieving specific results.
Tania also teaches a 9 weeks course for those wanting to learn more.
